Glocks I Want

I ordered a Glock 30 SF and of course it is on back order. But I wont be home for awhile so thats OK with me. Thing is, now I want a full size .45 as well. Should I get a Glock 21 or another brand? I was looking at Sigs and the HKs, but they are HIGH compared to the Glock. They look good and all but does that justify the price? I am personally leaning towards the Glock 21. Should I get it or another brand?

+1 on the G21.

I also like the Sig 220...see if you can find a police trade-in. I got mine in like-new condition for under $500.

By the way, you know your G30SF will accept G21 mags...

Got a Sig P220 Carry Elite for my CCW and love it. Yes it's high, but I like to think of passing it along to my son someday.

Yes a Glock 18 would be wonderful. Without all that crap on it though. Plain Jane for me. What do you think of a pistol like this:

Its horrible, I know, some may say tacky, but I like it. Id like to have it all in the same green. Speaking of, Im going to order a Glock 21 in OD green. Anyone have one at home they'd like to post a picture of?

Can't go wrong with a Glock..........very practical ~ a real workhorse.

Mine's a .40 S&W Glock 22 and oh yeah, it's dead-on accurate.

Um, you'd have to check local laws, but I don't think that's legal.

I own a standard G21 and G30. Love them both! I ordered a G30SF for my stepfather, but it was the first week Glock was taking orders for it and the distributors had no clue when they would get their orders in, so he switched to the standard G30. He should have his G30 in the next couple of days.

Not sure about that question. For anyone with a g30, buy some g21 mags and the A&G sleeve extensions:

Yeah, that's what I meant about I wasn't sure. I can't think of anything. :D

I got the G21 16 years ago and wanted to get a new pistol and got the G30 because it was a compact, used the same ammo, and could take the magazines I already owned. The G30 is very accurate, many people say the get better groups from the shorter G30 than the G21.

right- thanks...

I see the 21 as more of a Duty gun. - or if a person just wanted the Beef. Ive worn My 30 in tac holsters / and OWB hip holsters for full frame pistols.. it stays securely enough- even when i run.
thanks for the reply.

Quick question:

the highest Practical cap mag is for the G17 right ??? I mean that is the they hold 17 rounds? every thing else is 15 10 and 12.....right ??

I know about the 33 round mag but that is not useful for concealment purposes.

Yes, +2 floor plates. Same for several other gLock models.

erock: I'm not a fan of gLocks, but I'd suggest getting another one simply for the mag compatibility reasons and you already know you like their 'crappy triggers and horrible ergonomics' ;)

I'm an XD man! :tongue_ma:

I have a glock 38 and I'm sure everyone here will disagree with me, but I like it a lot! True, it uses .45 gap ammo, which is harder to come around, but when you buy bulk at gun shows or online it's no biggie. I love it because it's a powerhouse for a sub-compact. I carry it with me everyday and it's the perfect size for concealment.

Same here. I wouldn't mind checking out the Glock 20, to see what the 10mm can do.

I have a G19 and lots of ammo for it, as well as some mags and a 33 rounder mag. Not sure if I want a second gun, and then would it be best to get another 9mm, since I have that ammo stash.

Yes I am going with the Glock 21, matter of fact, I ordered it last night in the OD Green option. XDs look nice, but to me, the Glock is like the AK, simple and "loose", not very many moving parts to mess up on me. In other words, you pull the trigger and it goes bang. They can take a beating also really well like the AK and keep on going. I keep mine clean though.

Re: Glocks I Want

I have had a G21 for about 12 years now... I love it... The ony thing I'd trade it for would be the .40 vs the .45... I have shot a friends and its muzzel jump is just a wee bit less and that allows e to get back on target a bit faster....

Other than that I love mine and have had not a single complaint about it....

I think I'm up to 12 10 rnd mags and 2 13 rnd mags for it... I always keep 4 or 5 fully loaded and rotate often cause I like to shoot...

Re: Glocks I Want

The G21 is a fine design. It is just too thick for my hands. If I do a snap draw and aim, it always ends up pointing right for me. My hand has to creep over to the side to get a good trigger position. For range work or even hunting, the big Glocks are fine in my hands. But I wouldn't choose one (for me) for "serious social work." The smaller 9mm/.357/.40 size Glocks fit my hand better. The G21SF is an improvement. I would probably buy one except I've always like the whole 10mm in the Glock idea better. If they ever get around to making a G20SF, I'll probably have to buy it. Maybe a G29SF as well.

The G38 in .45 GAP was mentioned. I really expected that combination to be a winner. As well as the G39. It seemed like a good idea to me. Find a way to use the smaller .40 size gripframes with a .45 caliber gun. Just shorten the case a bit but use higher pressures to achieve the same velocities. But the market hasn't been kind. (Although a number of PD's have adopted the round and are quite happy.) Several companies found ways to make .45 ACP gripframes smaller than I would have believed possible. I wouldn't mind owning a .45 GAP to this day but I would stock up on 500-1000 pieces of Starline brass when I bought the gun just for my peace of mind.

I was recently trying to pick a new and modern .45 ACP for my own use. I was mainly looking at the guns that were produced for possible US military testing. I wanted it mostly for the range but also for IDPA. Felt like something new. I had been using my Glock 35 for a couple seasons. I looked at the S&W M&P in .45 ACP. And I looked at the 5 inch SA XD. Both of those were nice guns but each one just seemed to have some little glitch in my hand that I didn't like. I was interested in the Taurus OSS design but it seems like it is never going to actually get to market. I went back and forth literally for weeks.

I finally made a decision. I have lots of guns. I buy more every year. But I've noticed something about my collection. Sometimes I buy a gun that I would say has excellent "utility." Or that is "the best buy in the category." You know what? Those guns almost never end up being favorites. I use them, I shoot them, I appreciate them. But they will never get pride of collection status. They will never be like a Colt Python or a P&R N frame S&W. Or an HK P7M8. Or a Tikka Tactical. Or an FN SLP. In the long run, it is the guns I buy that are "the top of the category" that I almost always end up enjoying the most. "Life is too short to buy Fords." Something like that.

So I went to the top of the line polymer duty size .45 ACP. I bought an HK45. I've put maybe 500 rounds through it so far and I love it. The grip "feel" is just wonderful. It is slimmer than the competition so you only get a ten round magazine but I'm thinking 10+1 rounds of .45 ACP is really no disadvantage! I ordered two more mags and a Blade Tech holster and magazine pouch. When they come, I'll try IDPA with it. That will be the real test. I've found that an afternoon or two with a new handgun at IDPA results in either satisfaction or disgust. I've had guns go both ways. I'm optimistic but some competition under stress and time limits tells you a lot more than just plinking at the range.
